Xavier’s work investigates issues relating to identity and otherness. Interested in the deconstruction and re-creation of forms and concepts, Xavier creates poetic images where the body ceases to be merely physical and comes to represent permeable areas. Nets and water are recurring themes in the work of the artist, and are presented through videos, photos, installations, paintings, and drawings. Both nets and water define what is inside and what is outside, creating interchangeable fields of constant change.

The artist is trained in psychology and psychoanalysis. Lives and works in Rio de Janeiro, RJ. She was born in Rio de Janeiro, RJ, 1952.
