Sculptor, painter, engraver, photographer. Born in Poland, he came to Brazil in 1948, and in 1951, he participated in the 1st International Biennial of São Paulo with two paintings. He lives for a brief period in Paraná, isolating himself in the forest to paint. At this moment begins its engagement with environmental causes.

Since 1972, he lives in New Viçosa, southern Bahia. It enlarges the work with sculpture, initiated in Minas Gerais, using trunks and roots, on which it performs interventions. He travels constantly to the Amazon and Mato Grosso and photographs the deforestation and burning, revealing dramatic images. From these trips, he returns with calcined roots and trunks, which he uses in his sculptures.
