LUIZA BALDAN

Born in Rio de Janeiro in 1980, Luiza Baldan is a PhD candidate and has a MFA degree in Visual Languages from UFRJ (Rio), and has a BFA degree in Visual Arts from FIU (Miami, 2002).

Recent solo shows include: “Estofo”, Anita Schwartz Gallery (Rio, 2017); “Perabé”, CCSP, 2015; “Build Up”, MdM Gallery Paris, 2014; “Index”, MAM Rio, 2013; “Corta Luz”, Pivô SP, 2013 and “São Casas”, Studio-X Rio, 2012. Group shows: “Cruzamentos: Contemporary Art in Brazil”, The Wexner Center for the Arts (Columbus, USA, 2014); “Escavar o Futuro” (Palácio das Artes, Belo Horizonte, 2013); “Lugar Nenhum” (Instituto Moreira Salles, Rio, 2013); “Travessias 2: Arte Contemporânea na Maré” (Galpão Bela Maré, Rio, 2013); “Collecting Collections and Concepts” (Fábrica ASA, Guimarães, Portugal, 2012). Awards/Grants: Viva Arte! (SMC RJ, 2015); Arte e Patrimônio IPHAN and Bolsa Funarte de Estímulo às Artes Visuais (2013). Published the books “Derivadores” (together with the artist, Jonas Arrabal) in 2016 and “São Casas” in 2012. She currently lives and works in Rio de Janeiro, teaches at the Parque Lage Visual Arts School, and is represented by Anita Schwartz Gallery (Rio).
