Graduated in Industrial Mechanics from CEFET-RJ. He began shooting in black and white at the age of 11, influenced by his father, an amateur photographer. He was educated in the experience of photojournalism in the Jornal do Brasil in the 1980s, he also collaborated in the country’s largest publications and was a correspondent of the French agency SIPA-Presse in Rio. Renan Cepeda is now widely recognized for research about unusual photographic techniques such as infrared photography and light painting. In 2010 he founded Ateliê Oriente with the photographers Kitty Paranaguá and Thiago Barros.
